Between Leaves & Flowers

They say that life’s a rollercoaster and they’re not wrong. This past year has had more than its share of bumping along the bottom. A lot more. Through the ups and downs of life, painting has been a powerful constant for me.

Since I was a little child I had the best connection to nature than to people. During the pandemic, I got back to the world where I wish I could live forever. Getting into a “flow” state where we feel totally absorbed but also completely alert to what’s happening at the moment with our brush and the paint. It’s both relaxing and energizing and I feel better being able to meet the challenges of life. It helped me through life's lows such as having cancer and losing people that I love.

I say it to myself: Don’t put it off. Make sure it’s there for you when another challenge crops up.

This series called “Between Leaves and Flowers” is a standing point at this moment. I meant to say to get back to painting every day and being connected to nature really saved my life during the year 2020.
